“oh Bullwinkle, that trick NEVER works!”
in 'Mrs Moose goes to Washington'.Sheik - One U.S. naval surface strike force with 2 Aegis cruisers, 3 Arligh Burke Destroyers and a couple of frigates could take out the majority of the Russian fleet. I’m not too worried about the rusting hulks they float around the Black Sea.
in 'meanwhile, in South Pooterville'.Stix: “Whoever wrote this is an idiot.”
see, this is a perfect example of WHY citations and footnotes come in handy.
as a simple declarative written statement standing alone, one could infer that Stix has self-loathing issues.
yet, from context, i’m sure he probably meant something else.
in 'todaze Lympian quote o the ding dong day'.ok fellow Bitch, Steppes [and I smile when I say that, yanno] howz about this?
The discussion of McCain’s adversity was not about experiencing adversity itself. That we all do; even TV hosts. It was about adversity experienced in the service of his country, the risk of adversity undertaken in contribution to the greater good, and the resulting effect of adversity experienced on the character of the individual. Yes, Biden’s experience was certainly adversity, but it was of a private nature—the same private nature all humans experience daily to greater or lesser degree—and had nothing to do with the greater good of service to country.
All those who served—throughout history and to this day—experience adversity to a greater or lesser degree, and risk experiencing it to the degree illustrated in the story of McCain’s life. Many of those do not take that adversity and turn it around into a re-dedication of further service to the greater good: that is why McCain is exemplary. He is one of those who did.
Agree with his tactics or not [and we all know I think very little of some of his tactics] I do not question his dedication to what he sees as service to his country. When he is mocked and has poo flung at him he laughs which indicates to me that popularity is not his major inner goal but rather a means to his goal. When the same happens to Uh-bama, he bristles and becomes petulantly nasty, which indicates to me that notoriety and popular positive regard is his major, inner goal. That is not a quality of character I would follow to the men’s room, much less want to lead this country.
Staghounds - nicely put.
in 'Way to completely miss the point...'.first things first…
cargo chopper flies in (w/air escort and top cover), lands, and some Marine Gunny sez to nearest Ivan: “i’m here to pick up my 3 HMMWVs, stand and deliver.”
in 'meanwhile, in South Pooterville'.Keep your Christianist religion out of my politics!!!!!111
in 'okay... I'll play'.Nicely put stagehound.
Now on with the work at hand. I’ll go get the fence stretcher and work on getting the break in the pasture fixed.
I hate it when the cows get out. Sorry everybody.
SBG,
I’m glad you picked up on the “boarding” thing.
Won’t happen.
I suspect their inspection will be more like looting a portion of the stuff after it’s put on Georgian trucks.
Personally, I’d like to see a Ro/Ro freighter bring in our own ground transports… and escorts. (You Navy guys need to fill me in on the subject.)
in 'meanwhile, in South Pooterville'.“Hey, Rocky! Watch me pull an election outta mah hat!”
in 'Mrs Moose goes to Washington'.OMG....real actual Lympian reply:
I guess Castro, Marx and Hitler were more like Jesus than the Governess.
in 'okay... I'll play'.Does that mean the GOP is now the Cuda Moose Party?
in 'Cow Moose Party'.“There was a young lady named Bright,
Whose speed was much faster than light.
She set out one day,
In a relative way,
And returned the previous night!”
Missy,
Yep. One of my more obvious jokes, I thought…
which I’m certainly not above.
I was struggling with an obscure Teddy Roosevelt analogy when simplicity reared its ugly head… remembered a roadside moose sign seen while motorcycling in Alaska. It was posted on a narrow hillside road where I got blocked on a curve by a velvet-antlered bull moose. I couldn’t turn around easily, and he could’a had me if he wanted, but he just snorted and loped off down the hill. Oh, yeah… the sign was posted about 200 yds past the meeting point. Cracked me up.
It was no Twin Peaks, THAT’s for sure :)
in 'Mrs Moose goes to Washington'.This thread is fast becoming a black hole of niggardly naggers and uppity elitists.
Carry on.
A limerick or two would be nice.
in 'todaze Lympian quote o the ding dong day'.The headline on that vid link said, “Russia says it will board US ships in Georgian ...”
The person writing that headline prolly strectched the truth a little so be sensationalistic,
but if the rooskis did say that, I got a message for them!!
“Try it Ivan, it’ll be the last thing you fail at as you become fish food!!
The USN command that will be brought back into use, is, “STAND BY TO REPEL BOARDERS!!”
I noticed that the Rooskis are already hurting financially for their Georgian adventures
plus they’re being considered for exlusion from other international things like WTO, G-8, etc.
I like what Cheney’s doing diplomatically & the USN’s getting in their face big time!!
My disappointment is in the wussy europeans & their lack of support for NATO!
Jesus didn’t have a Messiah complex either ;)
in 'okay... I'll play'.^^^^^^Oh.No.He.Deh-Ent!!^^^^^^
That show had some of the best television writing I’ve ever seen.
And I have all six seasons on DVD so there : P
in 'Mrs Moose goes to Washington'.This is pretty good too…
ah, ya-up. The more they try to beat Palin up the worse they look AND they don’t knowit!!!
